Wedding Date

My wedding date is confirmed. It's Saturday 8th September at St Elizabeth's Cathedral (pictured) which is in the centre of the historic town of Kosice. Next things on the to-do list is to call the British embassy in Slovakia, pick a reception venue, buy insurance, work out invites etc etc. Between 18 August and 20 October there will be four weddings amongst our closest family and friends. A combined stag do is on the cards.

I've decided to blog lightly for the next two weeks or so - high quality posts only and less blogging about blogging (other than to discuss poll results).

My sympathies. Organising a wedding is not easy. It's a while yet before it's on our (mine and my other half's) plans, so even in the talking about it stage as we tentatively are, it can get stressful.

But seriously, good luck and all the best!!! You're in our thoughts and prayers!

I really enjoy organising things actually. Save your prayers *grins*.

Great you have decided to swap Prague for Slovakia, though Kosice and my home town, Trnava, are big rivals and I would certainly encourage you to give it another reconsideration and think about Trnava's cathedral of St. John the Baptist :)

Congrats again PT hope the weather is as good for you day as it looks in the picture.

On a seperate note Some colleagues of mine are over in Slovakia in May, they are staying just outside Kosice.

Any chance you could let me have a list of places to visit and local customs they should know about?

I know this part of Slovakia very well Buster George. The people are very easy to get along with so they won't need too many pointers on that score. I'll drop you a note over at your site so that I can recommend a few places.

In case the bride doesn't turn up???

Play nice, serf. That's not a nice comment. If you can't comment nice, don't comment at all (unless you're going to say rude things about Blair on this blog, that should be all right). The insurance is for stuff like the dress maker burns down three days before the wedding, meaning no dress and a postponed wedding. A parent of the bride or groom is taken ill the day before, leading to postponement, etc. I honestly hope all goes well for PT, but you never know, so I support the absolutely sensible decision to get insurance.
