Winning Hearts And Minds

Here's a couple of sensible quotes about education and teachers that mirror my views.
Education is the transmission of civilization.

Good teachers are costly, but bad teachers cost more.

A blogger who holds the Stalinist-sounding post of "political education officer" has caught my eye. As the website for the organisation to which he/she belongs to lists no events or campaigns for this year, I’m hoping that he/she doesn’t manage to do much "teaching" based on the following views expressed on the website to which he/she contributes.

On the Queen

"Do you think the French have any guillotines left that we could borrow?"

On the Klu Klux Klan

"Aka the Republican Party"

On the Tory response to Hitler

"Appeasement of their fascist fellow-travellers on the continent"

If you’re interested to join this group, they are looking to fill the following vacant roles. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) Officer and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Officer. Free membership may be available to the first person to guess the organisation. Clue - it isn't the Labour group on Sandwell Council.

Update

Well done to Haddock for matching the views to the organisation (See comments). Their posts on Europe, the Queen and Education are particularly revealing.

is there a link?

Perhaps they need representation in Wales...

You have to guess - *Bangs head* ;-). A clue is that they aren't based in Wales. I'll promote them further with a link once someone gets it or the guessing game becomes tedious.

I daren't guess. Based on their vacancies they aren't a Muslim group. Is it Socialist Worker?

I suppose I'm barred because you've sent me the link before.....

Are you trying to wind up Bob Piper?

I like the quote about teachers, btw.

I used to work with a proud Stalinist. Lovely guy, though you wouldn't want him running the country.

City wages including bonuses would have been capped at £40k, and that's after the Etonian heads had rolled and no-one knew what they were doing anymore.

Some people had a conscience but fried it in the 60's and now it's a little bit 'different'.

Still I take may hat off to him for being politically active and helping get us where we are today. Fair employment rights for the 'consumers/masses/great unwashed/working classes/criminal classes' (delete as appropriate to your own level of snobbishness) and a world class financial centre.

I didnt get it myself for a minute! I try not to look at it that often. JB

ps, i suppose theres not point in them going to guido for a link either.

Thanks all for the comments. Hilary - no C - yes you're banned from this one. Ellee - this one has nothing to do with Piper, I think. Despite the talk of guillotine is anyone else prepared to stick their neck out?

At least I'm not missing out on a prize. Still, do I pass Blog Ethics 101?

This is too much fun - another post on the same theme first thing tomorrow to give you a few more clues.

or more accurately bulshit.org

not sure I want the prize though.

Well done, Haddock. Just chuck the prize back into the sea if you like.

My word, the young bucks of BULS are a ugly looking bunch. Some of the young ladies (or fellow travellers of a female persuasion) are quite cute though.

I think it might be worth checking some more student sites in search of Labour Party members asserting less than Blairite positions...

I'll have a look at London tomorrow.

Ku Klux Klan - not Klu Klux Klan.
